My Story / My Journey
Hi, my name is Samantha. I am the founder of Samantha's Hair Growth Oil. I've been a licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist for over 26 years. Growing up in a country where hair oiling is a cultural staple, this idea came to me naturally. However, my journey toward creating this product began with a personal struggle.
After using a medication that caused me to lose a significant amount of hair, I made the difficult decision to cut it all off in 2021. Although my hair grew back, it never felt the same—it was thinner, weaker, and lacked the vibrancy it once had.
At the time, I was working as a hairstylist and a MAC makeup artist. I had owned a salon from the age of 26 to 33, but after having my three children, I chose to open a studio in my home, which I've successfully run for the past 11 years.
While working at Ulta, I found myself reading product labels whenever I didn't have clients. I noticed that so many of the hair products on the market were filled with chemicals and preservatives. Despite their promises, they didn't seem to align with the natural, nurturing approach I grew up with.
As my hair continued to feel strange and unmanageable, I tried a product from a big brand store that came in a pink bottle. By the 25th day of use, I lost 50% of my hair. I was devastated. The heartbreak of watching my hair fall out pushed me to search for something better—something pure, something organic, something that wouldn't cause further damage.
Growing up in a West Indian household, oiling hair was second nature—a tradition rooted in love and care, passed down through generations. It was a way to nurture not just our hair but also our connection to culture and family. I wanted to return to those roots while creating something modern and effective.
